Time to Re-Wire! The original 16-guage speaker wires were hastily laid on the floor along the walls of the room when the theater was first setup, just to get things up and running. My plan was to permanently run the speaker wire out of sight above the drop ceiling. Here, I'm installing some bright red, heavy-duty 10-guage speaker wire to help improve audio signal. I've precut some 60-foot lengths of wire for the three front speakers and have begun to fasten them to the joists above the drop ceiling. |
|
This thick red wire made by Surge is surprisingly very flexible. I will also be installing gold pin connectors to both ends of the wires for a quick, easy connection to the speakers and amplifiers. |
Hard to believe I'm hosting a Movie night in two days! I'm really going to have to hustle to get all this wired, connected, and cleaned up before my guests arrive only 44 hours from now! At right, you can see I have moved my equipment cabinet for the side wall to the rear of the room, to allow me to hang my marquee poster light box on the wall. In the foreground, one of my Infinity speakers lies disassembled awaiting a replacement foam surround on the woofer. |

|
My Infinity SM152 speakers are at least 15 years old, and the foam surrounds on the woofers are finally rotting. I already have a replacement kit to redo the woofers in both of the speakers, but I doubt I'll have this one repaired before Movie Night. I'll just remove the woofer, tape off the wire leads, and put the grill back on, and no one should notice! |

A closer view of my throw rug - Contemporary, Modernistic, Weird, Bizarre, call it whatever - but it does kinda look like a party, or at least it looks fun, doesn't it? Besides, my Kids picked it out for me - So, I really had no choice in the matter! |
